Our Mission

During summer and fall months, 3-518th Inf Reg training companies expand the Army's
training base in order to train the increased number of soldiers entering Basic Combat Training
(BCT). Each training company performs a two week portion of the 9 week BCT POI.

     Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Lee Scott enlisted in the United States Army Reserve program on 20 January 1980. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, GA.
He graduated on 19 June 1980 and distinguished himself as the Soldier of the Day, Soldier of the Month, and Trainee of the Cycle. Upon completion of basic training, he attended the 108th Division (Training) Drill Sergeant School and was assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 518th Regiment, 108th Division (Training), Hickory, NC.
He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Course, Combined Arms Staff Service School, Phase I, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Religious Education from American College and a Master of School Administration from Appalachian State University.

     LTC Scott’s previous assignments include Drill Sergeant, Company D, 3rd Battalion, 518th Regiment, 108th Division (Training); Company Executive Officer, Company C, 3rd Battalion, 518th Regiment, 108th Division (Training); Commander of Company E, 3rd Battalion, 518th Regiment, 108th Division (Training); Battalion Supply Officer, Headquarters, 3rd Battalion, 518th Regiment, 108th Division (Training); Training Officer, Headquarter, 2nd Brigade, 108th Division (Training);
Special Projects Officer, 12th Battalion, 108th Training Support Brigade, 108th Division (Training); Battalion Operations Officer (S3), 12th Battalion, 108th Regiment (CAS3), 6th Brigade (PD), 108th Division (Institutional Training); Assistant Brigade Operations Officer, HHD, the Brigade (PD), 108th Division (IT); and Operations Officer, HHD, 6th Brigade (PD), 108th Division (IT).

      LTC Scott’s awards and decorations include the Drill Sergeant Badge, Forces and Command Best
Individual Soldier of the Year Award, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (4 Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve
Medal (Silver Hourglass/ “M” Device), and the Army Service Ribbon.

    Command Sergeant Major Minton entered military service in March of 1972.
He is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He completed Basic Combat
Training and Advanced Individual Training as an infantryman at Fort Jackson,
South Carolina.His assignments include Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant,
First Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major.

     Command Sergeant Major Minton’s military and civilian education includes:
Basic, Advanced and Senior Non Commissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant’s Course, The United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Jackson Drill Sergeant School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from Clemson University.

     Command Sergeant Major Minton’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (6 OLC), the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Hour Glass Device, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 4 and the Drill Sergeant Badge.
