Mission Statement

The Public Safety Services, Fire Prevention & Protection Division of the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering provides a great multitude of services to the citizens of the Fort Jackson community, both emergency responses and non-emergency activities. The mission of providing fire and emergency services never stops; it is a responsibility 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year.

The entire division is comprised of 33 personnel and divided into three branches:

Fire Operations
Fire Prevention
9-1-1 Center

Fire Operations

Fire Operations’ responsibilities include emergency responses to all fire related incidents, hazardous materials accidents, specialized rescues and assisting Moncrief Army Hospital’s ambulance section with emergency medical services (EMS) responses. They also perform maintenance operations on fire extinguishers, facility smoke detectors, fire hydrants and automatic sprinkler systems. Additionally, they support the post community with educational classes involving fire safety, first-aid and CPR.

Fire Prevention

Fire Prevention’s services include fire safety inspections of all post facilities and 17 statewide reserve centers, reviews new construction and building renovation blueprints for fire code enforcement, conducts fire safety/fire marshal training to post elementary schools and the entire post population and augments the Operations Branch during emergency responses.

9-1-1 Center

The 9-1-1 Center is the central receiving site for all 9-1-1 calls relating to fire, police and EMS incidents. They are responsible for obtaining vital life threatening information and properly routing to the appropriate agency. They also perform 24-hours-a-day fire department dispatching duties and, after hours, DLE emergency service order reception desk duties.
