PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a spouse of an active duty military member.
  • You were married to your sponsor prior to their report date to their new duty location
  • You must meet one of the following criteria:

- Current Federal career or career-conditional employee

- Currently serving under a VRA or Schedule A appointment for the disabled

- Have reinstatement eligibility

- Have appointment eligibility under E.O. 12721

- Have competitive service eligibility based on employment under other merit systems such as the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).

  • You currently have career/career conditional status, Executive Order eligibility, or VRA/Handicap appointment
  • You are a United States citizen
  • Your sponsors’ orders identifying the reporting date to their new duty station verifies your eligibility for the military spouse preference program
  • Your military sponsor was reassigned from overseas to U.S. or within U.S., including U.S. territories and possessions
  • Your military sponsor was reassigned on an unaccompanied tour with orders specifying the sequential assignment. The spouse may register for activities in the commuting area of the sequential assignment at any time during the sponsor’s unaccompanied tour.
  • You may register at the losing A-coded activity up to 30 days prior to your sponsor’s reporting date or, upon relocation, at any A-coded activity in the commuting area of the sponsor’s new duty location
  • Registering activity shall not effect the registration more than 30 days prior to the sponsor`s reporting date or more than 30 days prior to the spouse’s arrival in the new commuting area, whichever is later

  • Sponsor’s Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders
  • Standard Form 50 (Leave Without Pay)
  • Performance Appraisal (most recent)
  • Documentation of E.O. 12721 eligibility, if applicable.
