The Military Police Investigations Branch is responsible for the investigation of military, state, and federal criminal offenses that occur within the boundaries of Fort Jackson. 

Military Investigators have training and experience in modern forensic techniques, interviewing, evidence collection, crime scene control and processing, and juvenile procedure.

Our investigators work closely with the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate and the U.S. Attorney's Office to ensure swift and just application of the law.

Lost, Abandoned and/or Found Property, 5499 Jackson BLVD

     The Office of the Provost Marshal has overall responsibility for lost, abandoned and/or found property on Fort Jackson.  All property of this type will be turned in to the Military Police Desk.

     All lost, abandoned and/or found property turned in to the Military Police, with the exception of government property, will be held for 45 days.  During the 45 days attempts will be made to find the owner of the property.  The attempt to locate the owner will include listing all items in the Fort Jackson newspaper “The Leader” and via e-mail.  After 45 days all unclaimed personal property will be given to the Morale, Recreation, and Welfare for sale.

     Found property can be claimed by contacting the Military Police Desk Sergeant at Building 5499 or by calling 751-3113/4.  The phone will be answered 24 hours per day.  The custodian of the lost, abandoned and/or found property section is located at Building 5499.

     In order to determine ownership of found property, the owner will be required to provide proof of ownership e.g., a receipt, bill of sale, registration, and /or specific, detailed description of the property.
