To hunt or fish on Fort Jackson, one must obtain a Fort Jackson Hunting or Fishing permit IN ADDITION TO appropriate South Carolina state licenses.

Fort Jackson has many pristine hunting and fishing areas. In order to fish or hunt in one of the designated areas, you must go to the check-in station at Heise Pond off of Semmes Rd. across from Twin Lakes. Fort Jackson has a wild game population consisting primarily of Deer, Turkey, Squirrel, Rabbit, Quail, Dove, Ducks, and Geese.

Available hunting areas change on a daily basis.

The following fee schedules are for annual licenses and permits.

License Fees for South Carolina Residents Licenses are effective July 1 through June 30 of the following year unless otherwise specified.

* All residents born after June 30, 1979, must successfully complete a hunter education course that is approved by the Department of Natural Resources before a hunting license can be obtained. The SCDNR offers a 10-hour hunter education course which includes classroom instruction and hands-on experience in hunter safety and hunting techniques. In addition, students learn about hunting ethics, hunter/landowner relations and basic conservation and wildlife management principles.

SEASONS

Hunting Seasons correspond to the South Carolina Hunting Seasons outlined by the SC Department of Natural Resources. 

Generally, hunting seasons are as follows:

DEER SEASON - Mid August through January 1st

WATERFOWL - Mid November through January 31st

SMALL GAME - August through March

If game is killed on Fort Jackson, it must be brought to the checking station adjacent to Heise' Pond, off of Semmes Rd. At this location are facilities for skinning and dressing deer, carcass disposal, and freezers for temporary storage of meet.

Anyone caught in violation of South Carolina or Fort Jackson hunting regulations will be subject to state and/or Federal Law which can result in fine, detention, and forfeiture of property.
