CPT M. Jerone Smith is a native of Dublin, GA. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from Nichols College. In 1996 he enlisted in the Army as a 71L (Administrative Specialist). CPT Smith graduated Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA and earned his commission as an Infantry Officer in January of 2008.
Upon commissioning he attended the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA, and later was assigned to Able Company, 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, Fort Benning, GA. During that time he served as a Platoon Leader, Assistant S-4 and Unit Public Affairs Officer. In 2009, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. CPT Smith also served with the 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, Korea. During his time in Korea, he served as an Operations and Plans Officer.
CPT Smith's military education includes WLC, ALC, OCS, Infantry Officer Basic Leadership Course and Infantry Captain's Career Course CPT Smith's awards and decoration include Joint Service Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, and Oversea Service Ribbon (2) CPT Smith and his wife Nikki have four children, Ericka, Mariah, Michael and Evelyn.
