Families and Friends of Soldiers in 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry,

Here is some information to help you and your Soldier make Holiday travel plans this year.

Victory Block Leave is from 17 December 2011 to 3 January 2012.

Soldiers traveling by Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) can be picked up at Fort Jackson on 16 December beginning at 1000 (10 AM) until 1500 (3 PM). Pick up location for 2-39 Soldiers is in front of building (Bldg) 10400 on the corner of Hampton Parkway and Dixie Road. Soldiers must be picked up by an immediate family member only. Family members picking up their Soldier will require proof of insurance, current vehicle registration and a valid driver’s license to enter Fort Jackson.

Soldiers traveling by air will depart from three authorized locations. Columbia Metropolitan Airport, SC; Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, NC; and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, GA. Soldiers must have return flights to the same departure location to make the return bus trip to Fort Jackson. Authorized times for departure and arrival follow:

Columbia airport

Departure = tickets can be for no earlier than 17 Dec (0500 or 5 AM)

Return = tickets can be for no later than 03 Jan (2359 or 11:59 PM)

Charlotte airport

Departure = tickets can be for no earlier than 17 Dec (0800 or 8 AM)

Return = tickets can be for no later than 03 Jan (2200 or 10 PM)

Atlanta airport

Departure = tickets can be for no earlier than 17 Dec (0800 or 8 AM)

Return = tickets can be for no later than 03 Jan (2000 or 8 PM)

Soldiers will have to purchase a bus voucher for their round trip bus ride to and from all departure airport or train stations. Price of the voucher depends on the departure node.

Columbia Amtrak Station and Columbia Airport is $20 round trip.

Charlotte Airport is $66 roundtrip

Atlanta is $106 roundtrip
