Captain Eugene Chu is a former enlisted Soldier originally from Arlington, Texas. He graduated Texas Christian University and received his commission in May 2004.
CPT Chu’s initial active duty assignment was Battalion Chemical Officer for the 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery Regiment in Camps Stanley and Casey in South Korea. He followed this with assignments as the Bravo Company then HHC Executive Officer for 187th Ordnance Battalion at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He served a combat tour with a Military Transition Team during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) before transitioning to the Army Reserve.
Upon transitioning, he worked as a contracted ROTC cadre member with Communications Technologies at the University of South Carolina. He simultaneously commanded Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 321st Infantry Regiment in the reserves. Afterwards, he mobilized to active duty and assumed command of Echo Company, 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment.
His military education includes Airborne school, Chemical Officer Basic Course, Combatives level one and two, and the military transition team course.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon (with number 2).
