Fort Jackson's Recycling Center has initiated and developed a Learning Center. The Learning Center is located within the Recycling Center and is designed as an interactive tool (includes a classroom with displays and a tour of the facility) for the installation and local schools to emphasize the importance of recycling. The Qualified Recycling Program (QRP) reduces the amount of materials sent to the landfill, generates funds through the sale of materials, and supports environmental stewardship at Fort Jackson.
All organizations are required to recycle.
Newspaper, Magazines, Plastic (#1-7), Aluminum cans, Glass (green, clear and brown), Cardboard, Pallets (48x40 only), Steel scrap, Paper (white, mixed), and Cooking oil.

Units are encouraged to participate in the UIP. Units can compete for monetary financial incentives by collecting, transporting and disposing of recyclable materials at the Recycling Center.
