I would like to take my cousin to her AIT base which is at Fort Benning, but have heard conflicting things about WHO is allowed to transport her. I am a cousin to her and she does not know that I will be attending her graduation. I am a surprise guest and would like to keep it this way. Who can I contact that can answer these questions or if they can be answered thru here I would be most grateful.

WE LOVE YOU!!! We are all proud of you, praying for you daily. Remember when you feel like giving up, don't! This is what we both wanted, remember, since you were a little kid, stay strong. Don't forget where your strength comes from. When you are scared, tired, or stressed, Look to no one, LOOK UP and remember:

And who is a rock, except our God?— the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights

He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.

You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.
Psalms 18:31-36

We are so proud of you and remember to stay true to who you are. Mick we love you and can't wait to see you and hug you. PFC Donna Ashley Lake - Missing you every day! I know you will work hard and never quit. i have carried this poster with me for close to 30 years now. its titled 'Don't Quit' and i will give a few quotes:

Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the crown, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worse that you mustn't quit.

My son arrived at Fort Jackson on 9-11-11. I received one call since then. I am waiting for a letter so I can have his address in order to send him some letters. I called the number on the Fort Jackson website but they said that he is still listed as being in reception. Is it normal to be in reception for three weeks? How else can I find out If he has been assigned to a company and/or what his address is.

Denise says:
Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2:07 PM

To Barb, BCT training is rough for many reasons, there is no time to be polite or thoughtful in a combat situation, mistakes get people killed. They are teaching our children to be Soldiers. BCT is a tear down and rebuild process, they are teaching them how to handle high levels of stress, not to take stuff easily to heart/personally. Looking for breaking points and teaching them to recover quickly. As soldiers can't call a time out in the middle of a battle. I'm not sure the full reason behind taking off the gas mask in the gas chamber, I think it has to do with teaching them not to panic. It's not all that bad though, as I know first hand. This Mom went through it herself in 1982. Because of the Internet I can follow my Son through via pictures posted. Your Child will come back stronger both physcially & metally with loads of confidence. The Service is not for everyone, but many do love it, as myself did. I hope I help quell some of your concerns.

Barb, I read your post and I agree our children join for many reasons and they are serving our country..they need to be treated with respect I even wonder about the gas chamber what is that suppose to teach except torture. If the soldier was with out the gas mask they would not be able to respond quickly and smartly regardless of the training. I am proud of our men. We need to stand up and speak out if we want changes...because tradition and protocol are in place. God Bless our Men

To all of the family and friends of your different love ones who are looking for information on the soldiers who will be graduating on Aug 4...I to did not receive a package but I did go online and pulled up a calendar letting me know when family day and graduation is going to be. Family day is 8/3/11 starting at 9am, graduation is 8/4 at 9am....I was told to get an early start on family day because traffic is going to be so backed up so plan to leave early like around 6am. They need a head count for family day because they have a buffet dinner. I was also told any amount for graduation is welcome. I hope this info helps out.

The first couple of weeks are the hardest, but then you get used to the routine and what the DI's expect. Remember what I told you about the purpose of the training you are receiving, and how that translates into reactions under fire. Again, I love you and could not be prouder of you than I am. Dad.
