Mission

The US Army Physical Readiness School (USAPFS) is the Army's proponent for Army Physical Readiness Training and Testing. The USAPFS develops concepts, doctrine, tactics, techniques, procedures, organization designs, materiel requirements, training programs, training support requirements, education requirements as they relate to the Army Physical Readiness Training Program. USAPFS is responsible for FM 7-22 "Army Physical Readiness Training" published on 26 October 2012, which supersedes TC 3-22.20, Army Physical Readiness Training and the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).

USAPFS also operates the Army's Master Fitness Trainer Course which awards the 6P (officer) and P5 (NCO) Army Skill Identifier. This course is specifically addressed on it's webpage. Master Fitness Trainers Course Page

USAPFS provides subject-matter expertise in support of G3/5/7's HQDA oversight role for the Army Physical Readiness Training Program. Specifically, USAPFS clarifies command policies, regulations and instructions provided by Department of the Army as they relate to the Army's Physical Readiness Training Program.

USAPFS provides subject-matter expertise to unit commanders and Soldiers through an experienced-based working knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques, and methodologies of physical education, exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and weight management, primary and secondary education, and motor learning as they relate to human performance, specifically the physical fitness requirements relating to the accomplishment of Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills.

USAPFS provides subject-matter expertise to IET unit commanders, drill sergeants and Soldiers through an experienced-based working knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques, and methodologies of physical education, exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and weight management as they relate to the training of new Soldiers. This is accomplished through FM 7-22, Army Physical Readiness Training and Future Soldier Pocket Physical Training Guide.
